Duavata Sappers Trust began with a simple idea: wages earned abroad can become capital invested together at home.

The story

A barracks idea with a long horizon.

Serving Fijian Royal Engineers decided their wages should not simply go home in envelopes — they should go home as capital.

Every member contributes on a fixed schedule. The Trust pools it, invests it and reports back with the same discipline a Sapper applies to a bridge or a build site.

Solesolevaki is the Fijian practice of communal labour and resource-pooling for a shared outcome. Here, it is capital instead of cane.
